Values, Truth, and Media

Media is acknowledged as an effective mode of supplying the mass with global facts. Its worldwide availability and publicity provides the access point, the bridge connecting the truth to the people. It also helps them to nourish their inner sensibility and awareness. In almost all the categories covered by media, security is the thing people want to verify. They try to evaluate the whole lot that share glory in their lives, such as political happenings, health and weather updates, yet people get confuse of who is the real bearer of truth among the different faces and voices. Is it base on tradition, on folk culture, on Biblical scriptures, etc…? Sometimes, we follow some definite set of values out of nothing or just the product of human instinct, while neglecting the core basis for all of these actions we consider right or wrong. A strong sense of honesty can be delivered if a nation knows her origin of faith. If its faith is based on the strong foundation of the church, we can somewhat conclude that what someone describes also have the same description as what the other person absorbs and understands. Truth is comprised by a group of facts delivered by media acting as the medium using a common language, which is the ‘values’ of the people recognized by a common entity.

Secondly, the people are seeking for clarity, and effectiveness of the messages coming from the mouth of the real time witnesses. Things get vague and ambiguous if the root of them is only the mouth of some charismatic representatives, which sometimes, have no integrity at all.

As today, media is introducing itself as ‘Panig kami sa katotohanan’ or sometimes, ‘Walang Pinapanigan’, but media’s primary objective is to be the protector of truth, which is the very foundation not giving the priority on the protection of either the Filipino Mass or the Elites, the Philippine government’s Administration or the Opposition. Protection of people follows as where the truth dwells, and as we identify the real bearer of it. It is how the ‘values’ can be seen and doesn’t appear as a nonsense conversation. Media is also interested in searching the truth, not to seek what is already prepared and can be found on the streets. If we will put our faith on someone who is absolute, perfect, and pure like God, who we know that will handle the justice for us, we can do the job as infinitely as possible, and if we know that the people also have the same faith, we can assure our physical safety from threats of truth haters. As a person, a reporter, or any truth deliverer is a leader himself and an excellent and dependable leader relies on the power of prayer, not on the power of force.
